Sycuan Casino Resort Donates to St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center

During the check presentation, Tribal Council members from Sycuan Casino Resort donated $10,000 to St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center. The donation will continue to support the nonprofit’s mission and sponsor their 2024 Haute with Heart Fashion Show & Luncheon.

“We have had a partnership with Sycuan for over 20 years, which has cultivated a supportive environment that contributes to the success of our programs and has helped us be recognized in the greater community as a local non-profit which serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.” St. Madeline Sophie’s Center CEO Debra Emmerson said.

St. Madeline Sophie’s Center is a nonprofit offering educational and recreational programs to adults with down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other cognitive disorders. With the help from Sycuan Casino Resort, the nonprofit helps individuals achieve their potential with personalized support, skill development and community engagement.

Sycuan Casino Resort’s Dedication to St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center

With over two decades of support, Sycuan Casino Resort partners with St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center to sponsor multiple events, helping the nonprofit raise funds for its vital programs and services. Together, the collaboration showcases a strong partnership in community development that positively impacts lives in San Diego.

Swing With Santa Golf Tournament

One of the hallmark events is the annual Swing with Santa Golf Tournament. The annual event lets participants enjoy a day of golf, a silent auction, and a happy hour reception, helping raise funds for the student’s holiday celebrations.

Haute with Heart Fashion Show & Luncheon

Sycuan Casino Resort proudly sponsors the Haute with Heart Fashion Show for St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center by providing financial support. The annual event boosts the students’ confidence by allowing them to showcase their creativity and talents while raising funds for the center’s programs. The event consists of a fashion show, live music, silent auction, and a luncheon.

Morning Glory Brunch

The annual brunch event features a fun afternoon of bites from local restaurants, live music, art made by students and a frog race with cash prizes. The event is a great way for students to show their talents and advance their social skills. Proceeds from the event go towards funding the nonprofit two-acre garden and aquatic program, enhancing the quality of life for students in the programs.

Tea by the Sea

Sycuan Casino Resort supports St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center’s annual Tea by the Sea at the Marine Room, offering delicious food and a stunning oceanfront view. At the event, guests enjoy complimentary Champagne, signature cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while bidding in a silent auction. Live music sets the mood, and a special visit from Marine Room Executive Chef Bernard Guillas adds a memorable touch. All proceeds help the nonprofit continue filling its mission.

St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center

Founded in 1966, St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center in El Cajon, California, started as a preschool for children with developmental disabilities. In 1972, the nonprofit shifted to serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, offering vocational training, skills development and social experiences. The nonprofit aims to help individuals with cognitive disorders reach their personal and professional potential through its innovative programs.
